Sylacauga, Alabama - One-half of Team USA competed in the Second Annual First Baptist Church Trussville Golf Tournament at the fabulous Farmlinks Golf Course in Sylacauga, Alabama on August 29th.
In short, it was domination.
Team Europe's biggest fear Steve Jackson rounded out a four man team consisting of USA regulars Mark Skiba, Jammy Erwin, and Junior Member Jarrod Jackson. The team played a pure scramble, sponsored by Bryant Bank's Trussville Branch.
With 16 birdies and 2 pars for a gross 56 net 50 score, Team JJSE easily captured both the gross and the net titles. Since the organizers wouldn't let them take both prizes, JJSE was announced champions of the Gross Division (ba-domp-ching). Each member of the team was awarded a $75 Inverness Golf gift certificate and several snide looks from the other competitors.
Ask by a fellow competitor if the team's net 50 was legitimate, Jammy responded, "No. I couldn't bring myself to say out loud that I am a 24 handicap, so I told them I was 22. Had I not lied, our net score would have broken 50."
By cold-smoking his tee shot to the tree in the middle of the fairway on #18, Mark Skiba was crowned Long Drive Champion and was awarded a $50 gift card to Farmlinks. Congrats Mark!
On the 178 yard long, 17o foot high par-3 fifth hole, Jammy's tee shot came to rest some 5 feet from the cup. Good enough to earn him a $50 Farmlinks gift card for closest to the pin.
"Our cart did okay today. We both got a couple of cool shirts that we'll wear at Kiva this year", said Mark following the event.

Congrats boys. You may give Brian some competition this year. He is pretty down about how he is playing.
