If the start of the 2011 Kiva Cup season is any indication, we are in for a special year in 2011. Matches and stories abound, as time allows:
Torrey Pines GC - San Diego, CA
Zac Ward had a 95, in windy conditions, at the site of the 2008 US Open. Reached for comment after the round he stated, "What difference does it make what I shot?? I was playing at Torrey Pines. Tell Brian I posted this score before we even got to the Men's Grill."
RTJ Grand National - Lakes
In a throwback trip to their Alma Mater on A-Day Weekend (won by the Blue 876 to 344 over the Orange) Meelum and Skiba painted The Loveliest in rampant Blue and Orange. The golf, it must be said, was an afterthought to Amsterdam, Toomer's Corner, The Supper Club, Chewacla and Cheeburger Cheeburger. All that said, Skiba defeated Meelum in a hard fought, yet friendly match of golf. It's early in the year for both of these world traveling gentlemen of the game.
Green Valley CC (Hoover)
The term Death Match, in Kiva Cup parlance, can be somewhat gratutious. Yet, when The Hawk Brothers defeated new Cup Legend Andy McRae and Jarrod "JROD" Jackson 1 UP at the old Green Valley CC on Saturday, it seemed to be an appropriate designation. By most accounts, (True) Hawk pulled off his patented miracle shot on 18 at GVCC to clinch the victory, much to the delight of his brother. The moral of this story....only a fool verses the Hawk Brothers at their home course. JROD quit golf (except for the Kiva Cup) following the round. This marks the first "quitting" of golf for 2011, sure to be followed by many more.
What a great start to the 2011 season. While we mourn those who have moved on.....The Cup continues. The upcoming weekend promises more exciting action, with rumors of games at Goose Pond (Old) and other historic venues.

RIP JAMMY!
Delete out all the spaces between the paragraphs and rescale that picture in the header. Don't make me come out of Web Log (a/k/a, 'blog') retirement and take back over the Proper Forum.
Does that casino sign say "Erwin's Dead, USA Searches For Replacement"?
That's not nice. By the way, DeadJammy, how is KCGreat doing?
Great's doing good. He's mastered the wheel maneuver over in the 3rd Base Coach's box
Jammy can you send us a picture of yourself every year or two so we can update our memory of what you look like?
Forget you guys. If you want to see me come to either the Trussville Rotary Club, Trussville ball park, or my HOA association meeting in Trussville. I don't have time for you anymore. I don't care anything about you guys anymore so in the words of a great American LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE PEOPLE!
Well that's not nice.
Wow. This must be what Mark, JRod, Milam-san and Chief feel like when all the Alabama fans get Aubsessed. Some of those posts actually sound like something that I might say.
When is Team USA going to find 2 more players? I reckon they don't even have 2 more friends that want to be around them for 3 straight days. Captain Hartsell has lost control of his program.
I am talking to Captain Burnett today to finalize format. He has convinced me to drop down to 4 man teams. He thinks he got me but I got him, I think. Zac, Skiba, and Meelum get ready to face Captain Burnett, Chappy, Hawk, and Brick.
That will be a tough match of golf right there. We can split one condo 8 ways. #ECONOMICAL Oh wait, I'm out. That's not fair.
