A Day at The Farm

The 18th at FarmLinks is reminiscent of the King's Course in Gleneagles, Scotland.
Welcome to Farmlinks GC.
A cold apple has a good taste to it.
Coach Pursell misses no details.
Cup stalwart Skiba was striking like Bob Allenby. (sponsoring Puma Golf)
Meelum is in mid-season form.
The European Captain in "a spot of bother."

In a curious alliance on Friday, May 6, Cup Captains B.W. Burnett and J.H. Hartsell teamed up in a 36 hole showdown against Team USA mainstays M. Skiba and G. Meelum. The venue was Farmlinks G.C., one of the best golf courses in the Southeast, if not the country.

Match 1 (Front 18)

Meelum (80), playing inspired golf, came out of the gate with a birdie on 1. Skiba (80) followed with an eagle on 7. Leading the entire round, yet never by more than 2 up, the legends added birdies on 10, 15, and 16. Yet somehow, against all odds, Burnett(90) and Hartsell(90) got it to 18 only 1 down. A clutch par by Meelum on 18 sealed the 1 up victory.

All-Inclusive Lunch

Sitting down to lunch (included in the all day green fee), the combatants were greeted with the news that legendary Spanish golfer Seve Ballesteros was near death. Seve, a childhood hero of Meelum and Hartsell, was discussed and honored. The newly expanded lunch menu at Farmlinks included 6 choices, but Meelum wisely went with the Southern Special of catfish and hush puppies. While all choices were good, his appeared to be the best.

Match 2 (Back 18)

The Copperhead tees at FarmLinks are a "short" 6, 970 yards because they play "down hill." The Cup legends once again assayed these tees in the 2nd all-inclusive round of the day. Starting on 10, and reeling from the morning defeat and the news of his hero Seve's impending demise, J. Hartsell(84) proceeded to play the first 10 holes in nothing less than an "Eldrick-like" demonstration. Birdies on 15 and 17, both net ONES, followed by net birdies on 18 and and 1, gave the inspired Captains a 6 up lead thru 10. Burnett(82) added a birdie on 3 to close out Skiba (77) and Meelum (95) 7 and 6. The lesson here....the wrath of the Captains is awakened at your peril.

Is there are better place to be on a perfect Spring day than FarmLinks GC? It's highly doubtful.

It's too bad we didn't get to see the results of the G-Jack first sentence poll. It's almost like Captain 'Obama' Hartsell is running things now.

The day any one takes golf advice from quitter hack 26 handicap CC POTY is the day golf will officially die.

It's been nice at the pool. The girls like to wear a tiny bikini nowadays. Y'all (except Jammy, because we don't allow dead people in the pool) should come by.
