Weekend Recap - Combate a muerte

In a match that we could very likely see again come November, 4 Kiva Legends made the long journey south on I-65 to battle at Jerry Pate's Timberline GC. (Buxahatchee Old) The match pitted Captain Burnett / Kevin "True Hawk" Halcomb against Mark J. Skiba / Jarrod "JROD" Jackson.

It was as expected, a Combate a muerte or Death Match. In total, the team of Burnett/Hawk won 3 holes and Skiba/Jackson won 2. The remainder were halved. The match was decided on 18 when True Hawk got up and down from a leaf blower and The Americans both three putted. The final outcome was a 1 Up victory for Hawk/Burnett. In a side match, JROD defeated Brian 4 and 2. Individual scores:

Hawk - 73
Skiba - 78
JROD - 88
Brian - 89

Random notes:

USA Captain J. Hartsell hacked it around Burningtree (Old) in 94 pitiful strokes and has quit golf for the week. Highlights included a bogey.

Hey Guys,

I am hearing that Kiva may be overseeding a few days before your match in November. Why don't you move the match to July? It might be a little hot, but I reckon the course will be wide open. Just a thought.

True Hawk is a player! Skiba did not care for that beat down at Timberline. Did ya'll stop at teh Cracker Barrel in Prattville for breakfast on the way there?

Sorry Jrod.

I hope Brian enjoyed riding around in the cart with Hawk all day.

Hawk is a strong golfer. He's also a gentleman of the game. I just didn't realize he is also the long lost bastard son of Seve Ballesteros (may he RIP).

Hola. Es cierto Hawk es un caballero del juego. Él se pone bastante de la huelga en su pelota de golf.

JROD shot 88 to Brian's 89. I'm going to work on the formula that forced Brian to give JROD 6 strokes. I'll be in touch.

It was fun riding with Hawk. I like saying GREAT SHOT HAWK and NICE HAWK. I also enjoy hitting first so he can get dialed in on par 3's. If you two ever want a rematch Hawk and I will be in the men's grill at GVCC.

I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like, it's got baskets and bells and rings and things to make it look good. I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it.

We look forward to seeing you Nov 10th weekend. Should be great weather for some home improvement. What do you think about a tiled backsplash? Can you believe these jojos think you would want to spend a weekend with them. Who do they think they are?
