Jordan Hartsell on his way to an 84 at Sylacauga CC

The Chief...right back in the Mayor's office

STINGER!!!!!!!!
The Kiva Cup action was widespread across the state over the last 2 days. Reports follow, as time allows:
Hoover CC (Green Valley Old)
The design changes at Green Valley Old have not been met with unanimous approval among the Kiva Cup Family. Nonetheless, a classic matchup took place on Friday, pitting Euro stalwarts SeanHawk/Burnett against Chief/Zac17. Burnett, sporting new Ping irons purchased from James Erwin for $1.89 (plus tax) was focused and ready. SeanHawk, at his home course, is always a force to be reckoned with. It was back and forth all day, with 17 leaving the winning putt right in the heart on the revamped 18th hole. The match finished at All Square. The individual scores, for the record:
Burnett - 86
Zac17 - 87
SeanHawk - 88
Chieftain - 88
Burnett, realizing he had an 8:30 reservations at Coach Frank Stitt's Highlands Bar & Grill and needing a little folding money, called for an extra 3 holes. Again it came down to the last hole of this mini match, with Sean holing out from the water slide at the newly renovated GVCC pool. Reached for comment, Sean could only say, "I love this place. Ya'll should talk to The Doctor. We are running a membership drive just now. First 50 new members get automatic entry into The Lottery and are guaranteed 1 tee time in the month of July."
Sylacauga CC - AJGO Tournament
Jordan Hartsell was back in action in an AJGO sponsored event at historic Sylacauga CC. Bombing his new Titleist driver like Rickie Fowler at Disney World, he overcame some early putting woes to finish 46-38-84. Jordan returns to AJGO action on Tuesday, June 14 at the equally historic Highland Park GC in downtown Birmingham.
Burningtree CC (Old)
The Chief, making his first appearance at the treasured old North Alabama venue since his now mythical 75 in 2006, was eager to renew a classic match. It should be noted that the match of Uncle Charles /J Hartsell vs Uncle Lee / Chief has now been played for a remarkable 25 consecutive years. Only Old Tom Morris himself knows the lifetime standings, although conventional wisdom favors Charles/Jim. Jordan Hartsell joined the group, as is his custom.
The unrelenting heat, measured at 101 degrees, was a definite factor. Charlie, playing his patented low running draw off the tee , was in fine form. The USA Captain, bouncing back from a dismal performance the previous weekend, was able to card 11 pars to help the cause. The old partners closed out Uncle Lee and Chief 3 and 2 on the legendary 16th. Chief, quoted after the round, "I ordered mustard only on this turkey sandwich. How hard is that to do? This would be a good place to put a country club." Individual scores:
Uncle Charles - 76
Uncle Lee - 82
J. Hartsell - 83
Jordan Hartsell - 89
Chieftain - 90
Limestone Springs GC
USA Junior Member Jarrod "JROD" Jackson, took a few hours off from changing diapers to venture over to Coach Jerry Pate's beautiful Blount Springs venue for a day of golfing with his Fantasy Football League. The winner of this one day event was to automatically receive Cameron Newton for FREE for the 2011 season, should the NFL season actually be played. JROD, a true USA stalwart and supporter of the Cup, struggled off the tee. He finished with a 90, sponsoring 5 triple bogeys along the way. JROD, always upbeat, said, "This is a good handicap round. Brian and The Doctor won't care for me and Jim getting 18 in Alternate Shot. I am reckoning they will not care for it at all."
The action continues in 2011, the Year of The Kiva Cup, only the only Proper Forum.

I tell you what, I am impressed with the way Captain Brian W. Burnett manages a match of golf. Reckon he will get Jim on the carts again this year?
My husband does not "get" anyone. He is a kind man who loves the Cup and the game of golf. Well he gets Zac from time to time but that is different.
Wow, this a great site. I'm impressed by all the updates. Who is The Doctor?
Happy Birthday to Chief. I sure do miss that boy. Good times. I do not miss Deborah Vance-Bowie at all.
I laughing at Phil. He joke.
This right here is a site of golf. I remember when I used to verse in Cups of Golfing.
Jim I will haunt you during this Kiva Cup. I will not be mocked!
