Erwin Resigns from Kiva Cup
For a record 4th time in the 11 year history of The Kiva Cup, Team USA legend and spiritual leader James L. "Jammy" Erwin has resigned from Team USA. Speculation runs rampant as to what has brought on the latest withdrawal, but it is believed to be the fact that Erwin simply does not enjoy playing the game of golf. In simple terms, it is not fun for him.
A distraught Team USA Captain @JimHHartsell issued the following statement:
"I don't know what to say. Jammy is a great friend and my all time favorite golf partner. I could shoot 100 playing with Jammy, which I often have at Kiva, and still have fun. Whether it be commenting on the monkey squirrel that lives to the left of #5 green or the price of shrimp, his sense of humor has been the heart and soul of the Kiva Cup. For 7 of the 10 Kiva Cups, at least.
"A great man, A great friend. A great father. I hope he will consider coming to Kiva in an ad hoc, or advisory, role to see his friends, help me cook, and act as an All-Time Assistant Captain. The Cup won't be the same without him. All that said, I respect his decision and I will not try to change his mind this time, as I have done so often in the past."
"I hope we find a way to continue. I don't even want to think about trying to find a replacement. There are a lot of dance recitals and weddings held in early October. It will be tough."
