An interview with James L. “Jammy” Erwin

Hey Jammy, how you these days?

Good, if not great.

Do you miss the Kiva Cup?

No.

What are some of your favorite Kiva Cup memories?

Well, defeating Andy Mc,  the State Amateur champion,  3 & 2 has to be right up there. The year I had “car trouble” was really fun. I always kindly enjoyed it when Jim cooked on Saturday. His gumbo, while spicy, had a good taste to it. That was always an enjoyable time for me.  I made a net zero on hole number 3 one year, can’t leave that one out.

What was your favorite hole at Kiva Dunes?

That's easy. Number 5. There was a monkey squirrel that lived on that hole.

You were Captain Jim Hartsell’s closest advisor and most frequent playing partner in your years at The Cup. What do you see as the key to Team USA retaining the Kiva Cup?

Same as it’s always been. Control the carts in Singles. That’s really all it amounts to.

What do you do for fun these days?

I write from time to time. You can see my work at www.jammyerwin.com. I enjoy watching football.

It was great to catch up. Will we ever see you on the Fort Morgan peninsula in the Fall again?

You know, I really don’t see it happening. Good luck to Jim, Mark and all the boys. Tell Dalton hello for me.

Rhett is a good hard noised coach and y'all need to leave him alone! This team is young.

To be fair and balanced should Hawk not be interviewed?
