@thechiefs STRIKING!

GOOSE POND GC (OLD)
Scottsboro, Alabama

On a beautiful and cool summer day, 3/4's of Team USA gathered for 36 holes of golf at Goose Pond GC, an especial favorite team venue, to welcome the return of Kiva Cup Founding Member and Legend, @jammyerwin. They were joined by Friends of Team USA, Mr. Steve Jackson and @jordanhartsell.

The friendly welcome for their old friend was short lived, as Erwin picked up right where he left off with his 3 and 2 victory in the 2010 Kiva Cup over reigning State Amateur Champ Andy McRae.  In mid-season form, Erwin slaughtered his team members with a record one day Cup haul in the low net competition. Standings from the day follow:

@jammyerwin (25) - 92 (67) 93 (68) = 135
@zmward (11)-          82 (71) 80 (69) = 140
@jimhhartsell (13) -  85 (72) 82 (69) = 141
@jrodjackson (16) -  88 (72) 85 (69) = 141
@thechiefs (13) -      82 (69) 86 (73) = 142
@markjskiba (6) -      76 (70) 80 (74) = 144
@stevejackson (8) -  81 (73) 82 (74) = 147
@jordanhartsell (7) - 81 (74) 81 (74) = 148

In a class move, unheard of in certain quarters of the Kiva Cup, Erwin graciously donated $100 of his winnings to help defray Team USA costs for the annual Kiva Cup Shrimp Boil, following the Saturday Singles Matches. Welcome back Jammy, welcome back.

Team Europe thanks Jammy for that generous donation. We don't like paying for food.

Scoring could have been better, but I struck a few shots a little better than I really wanted.

Guys, when is the Cup this year? My desire is to participate in this event as a golfer once more, as I often did in times past. I wish to see my good friend Jammy and visit with him to discuss various issues regarding our mutual alma mater, The University.

A BAMER, see, he'll even cheat his friends. That's the way a BAMER is, see.

A Bamer, he cheats. A Bamer, he lies. Any questions?

Tell me about it! I thought that I was getting a bonus from you bums this year. Here I have to find out that the windfall will be spent one shrimp instead! No breakfast buddies on buffet day this year!

FYI. Over the years Byron Burnett has been by far the biggest tipper in the Kiva Grille. We enjoy for him to visit and look forward to same, each and every year. We do not enjoy that guy that always asks for a Breakfast Buddy. If you simply purchase the buffet, you can in fact create your own breakfast sandwich.
