Team USA Leadership Gathers at Goose Pond (Old)

A rare meeting of 3/8ths of Team USA was held on August 17 at Goose Pond (Old) on the banks of the Tennessee River in Scottsboro, Alabama. Meelum, who was able to forego scheduled lawnmower repairs to make the drive over from the ATL, was the story of the day. He fired a brilliant 33 on the last 9 of the day, to finish with a 73 on the back 18.

@MarkJSkiba, in what he termed as his "2nd favorite trip of the year", was consistent as always with rounds of 75-72. The pair dominated team play, defeating a hapless USA captain and @jordanhartsell with scores of 6 & 4 and 3 & 1. Jordan bounced back on the final 18 with a solid 75, coming home in 35.

Reached after the round, USA's longtime captain had these words: "I appreciate Skiba and Meelum joining us for a day of golf. If this proves to be the end of my golf career, I can't think of better people and a better place to have ended it all. I'm not sure I am playing good enough to even finish a single hole at Kiva. Well, maybe I could finish #4, if I teed off with an 8 iron."

It was rumored that Team Europe gathered at their headquarters of Green Valley CC, as @europeancaptain seeks to fill out his Cup roster for 2013.

Can't wait to see you boys out at Peninsula this year. It's about time you played a real course.
